The temperature-controlled milling technology, Amorfast®, can pre-gelatinize grains used for feed ingredients “instantly and without water.”
The amorphization of grains effectively improves the digestibility of feed and the durability of pellet feed. However, existing processing methods are costly and amorphization is not complete.
Amorfast® can optimally amorphize grain ingredients using a process that is both simple and consumes relatively little energy.


AGRITECH POINT1 Improving feed efficiency at low cost

Amorfast®, the temperature-controlled milling technology, instantaneously pre-gelatinizes grains used in livestock feeds such as rice, corn, and wheat without the use of water.
This can increase the digestibility of grain ingredients and thereby improve feed efficiency. As it is an energy-efficient process compared to conventional methods, it can achieve sufficient pre-gelatinization at a cost suitable for feed manufacturing.

Improving feed efficiency allows us to raise animals with less grain. This not only secures profitability in the face of rising raw material prices, but also reduces the environmental impact such as greenhouse gases and nitrogen emissions associated with the production of feed grains.

AGRITECH POINT2 Improving pellet durability

Grains pre-gelatinized with Amorfast develop viscosity just by adding water. It works as a substitute for feed binders such as dextrin, improving the durability of pellets.
Preventing the pulverization of pellets improves the yield of feed. It can also be expected to reduce energy consumption due to the feeding behavior of animals and reduce the incidence of respiratory diseases caused by dust.
Unlike binders, pre-gelatinized grains retain the grain nutrients, so there is the additional benefit of efficient utilization of feed space.


Food IndustryFOODTECH

Grain flour milled with the temperature-controlled milling technology Amorfast® can be utilized in various food products.
Amorfast® starch flour has absorbency, sticky elasticity, and emulsifying ability, and has a wide range of applications such as a wheat substitute/gluten-free food, additive substitute/clean label food, and allergen-free food. For example, if applied to rice, it can expand the opportunities for using rice and also contribute to improving self-sufficiency.
Since Amorfast® starch flour becomes a porridge or paste just by adding water, it is also suitable for emergency food and food for people needing nursing care.


FOODTECH POINT1Gluten-Free & Allergen-Free

Starting with rice flour, starch materials pre-gelatinized with Amorfast® can produce a sticky consistency just by adding water and can be stretched and rolled like wheat flour. Due to this characteristic, it can be used as a wheat substitute/gluten substitute. Also, by using Amorfast® starch material instead of allergens such as milk and eggs, it can be used to make allergen-free food.

FOODTECH POINT2Clean Label (Additive Substitute)

Amorfast® starch material has good dispersibility in water and also exhibits emulsifying properties, so it works like a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier. As a natural material, it can be used as a food additive, leading to improved quality of clean label foods and a diversified product range.

FOODTECH POINT3Emergency Food, Nursing Care Food, and Baby Food

Amorfast® starch material is easily digested and becomes porridge/paste by adding water. Therefore, it is convenient as a meal in situations where cooking is difficult or as an easily prepared care food for people needing nursing care.
Products processed with Amorfast® have low moisture content, are lightweight and maintain their pre-gelatinized (highly digestible) state for a long time, making them suitable for long-term and large-volume storage. In addition, a variety of food materials such as grains, tubers, and beans can be pre-gelatinized, expanding the variety of items.
Because it is in powder form, it is easy to measure and facilitates simple cooking tailored to the nutritional design. One of the advantages is that you can adjust the thickness by varying the amount of water, allowing customization according to an individual’s swallowing ability.

FOODTECH POINT4Expansion of Rice Usage Opportunities, Local Production for Local Consumption

By applying Amorfast® to rice, it can expand the number of ways in which rice can be used and promote local production for local consumption. It can also contribute to improving self-sufficiency. For example, rice flour dough has no stickiness, and it is difficult to make 100% rice flour bread, but by using Amorfast® rice flour, you can easily make fluffy 100% rice flour bread. In addition to bread, the range of applications of rice flour, such as noodles, pasta, gyoza skin, and thickening, will expand.


Biomass FieldGREENTECH

Amorfast®, the temperature-controlled milling technology, can also amorphize cellulose.
Traditional methods of amorphizing cellulose are associated with a high environmental load and consume a lot of energy.
Amorfast®, by just milling, makes amorphization possible, leading to energy-saving and a low environmental load. It has several potential applications such as in preprocessing for biomass upcycling and in feed conversion of unused biomass.

Cellulose has a molecular structure similar to starch, and it has been found that this technology can amorphize cellulose instantly and without water, just like starch.
Unlike traditional methods, it does not require harsh conditions such as high temperature and high pressure, so it suppresses energy consumption and makes low-cost processing possible.

GREENTECH POINT2Environmentally Friendly Biomass Preprocessing

Amorfast® does not use any chemicals such as acids or alkalis, and even solvents and dispersion media including water are not necessary, so there is no generation of waste liquid or by-products from amorphization processing. Because amorphization can be achieved just by milling, compared to traditional methods,it is an environmentally friendly biomass treatment.

GREENTECH POINT3Expansion of Usable Non-edible Biomass Species

Cellulose is the main component of wood and herbaceous biomass. Through eco-friendly amorphizing with Amorfast®, an expansion of the types of biomass that can be used is expected.
When converting biomass into fuel or plastic, it’s effective to amorphize cellulose to enhance enzymatic reactivity and chemical processing efficiency. However, traditional amorphization methods consume enormous amounts of energy or generate waste, limiting the opportunities to use these methods.
By carrying out eco-friendly preprocessing of biomass at a realistic cost with Amorfast®, it broadens the potential for resource utilization of various non-edible biomass, such as conversion of rice husks and straw into feed, and conversion of corn cobs into fuel.
